Richard L. Wittenberg is the President and CEO of Adolescents and Children Together for Health (ACT for HEALTH), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit with a mission “To Bring Together Organizations and Individuals to Promote a Holistic and Coordinated Approach to Improving the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents.”
Mr. Wittenberg was previously the President and CEO of the American Association for World Health (AAWH) which served as the US support organization to the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization. During his eleven years at AAWH, he successfully directed initiatives promoting public health education and community involvement on topics as diverse as oral health, early immunization, violence prevention, HIV/AIDS, tobacco prevention, healthy cities/communities, aging, physical activity, mental health and cardiovascular disease.
Before assuming the leadership of AAWH, Mr. Wittenberg was the Chief of Public Affairs for the Ohio Department of Health and prior to that, a member of the Ohio House of Representatives where he championed consumer protection and legislation to improve health and wellbeing.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wittenberg has been active in community organizations such as the Infant Mortality Board in Hamilton County Ohio and the Partnership for a Healthier Pinellas in Pinellas County, Florida.
AcademyHealth, in partnership with ACT for Health and with support from Well Being Trust, developed this report outlining prioritized policy recommendations from experts in the field for enhancing the psychological, social, and emotional wellbeing of America’s teens.
